2023 Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Awards Ceremony

Jobs With Justice ended the year with our annual Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Awards Ceremony at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, D.C. We were truly honored to celebrate an amazing slate of change-makers  including Kendrick Sampson and Tia Oso of BLD PWR for innovative storytelling and their Black-centered stories during the writer and actors strike, Communications Workers of America for their trailblazing campaign to ensure that all working people have access to basic telecommunications services, and Advocates for the Minor League Baseball Players and the Major League Baseball Players Association for organizing 5,000+ minor league baseball players who were officially recognized by the MLBPA after a lengthy campaign that expanded the boundaries of traditional bargaining.

The Discount Legacy Foundation Award was presented toAngaza G. Laughinghouse for his over 50 years commitment to the fight for workers’ rights, human rights and social justice in the Greensboro, North Carolina region. Later in the program, Laughinghouse was joined by his wife and The Fruit of Labor bandmate for a moving rendition of their song, Organize!

Thanks to our amazing sponsors and supporters, the event raised over $220,000 to support our work in 2024!
