Joe Thomas first became involved in labor organizing as a student at Washington University in St. Louis, where he was a leader in the campaign for a living wage for campus workers as part of the Student-Worker Alliance. In 2005, he joined the leadership team of St. Louis Jobs With Justice as a student-youth representative, and has remained involved in Jobs With Justice ever since, including as a leader in St. Louis, a trainer on the national Jobs With Justice training team, and staff for Colorado Jobs With Justice from late 2011 to mid-2015. He joined the national staff in January 2017.
