Washington, D.C. – Following the recent announcement that Apple Store workers at Cumberland Mall in Atlanta filed for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board, Jobs With Justice issued the following statement:

“The Jobs With Justice network is proud to stand in solidarity with the workers of Apple organizing with CWA Local 3104 in Atlanta. We welcome them to the labor movement with open arms, joining the thousands of workers at Starbucks, Amazon, and beyond who have organized to have a voice and power on the job. Apple has profited immensely from the global COVID-19 pandemic, including record profits into the tens of billions. Apple workers are the ones who have made the company its profit and driven it to be the most valuable corporation in human history; we applaud them for acting and demanding their fair share of the Apple pie.

“The past two years have driven home that only when workers band together can they improve their conditions on the job and in their communities. This is what democracy looks like,” said Erica Smiley, executive director. “Apple workers in Atlanta and New York now join the ranks of workers at Starbucks, Amazon, REI, and beyond–not simply in pushing for their own dignity, respect but imagining a democracy we can all get behind.”

Jobs With Justice demands Apple cease its union-busting, including its hiring of the same lawyers that failed to stop the Starbucks union wave, and sit down to negotiate immediately.”
