Harvard Workers Speak Out!
a panel on layoffs at Harvard from those they impact the most
Tuesday March 31st @ 5:30pm
Ticknor Lounge, Boylston Hall
Harvard - the world's richest university - has already started laying off some of its lowest paid employees to cut costs during the financial crisis. Cutting staffing levels by 40% at some work sites.
The City of Cambridge has called on Harvard to save the jobs of its service employees that rely on their income the most.
Join us for a panel where janitors, security guards, clerical workers, and dining hall staff will speak out about the pending layoffs in their workplaces.

4/2- Tenth Annual National Student Labor Week of Action Show and Tell Time: 7:30pm - 9:00pm Location: J Walter Wilson This year join featured guests, worker-leaders from Colibri Workers for Dignity and Justice, who were abruptly put out of work when the local Colibri jewelry factory closed its doors in January, illegally neglecting to pay severance and benefits guaranteed to workers under the WARN act. Along with the Colibri workers, activists in the labor movement from across the state will be discussing our interweaving struggles and how we can watch each other's backs. Do you have something to "Show and Tell"? Or maybe you're interested in how students can use our position to be effective allies to workers organizing for dignity and justice? Come join us either way! 411In support of ILWU and EFCA, RI JwJ will protest Rite Aid's anti-worker practices and call on them to settle a first contract with Lancaster, CA distribution center workers. |
