Campus Living Wage CAMPAIGN
While tuition rises (and education becomes less accessible to the working class) and top university administrators earn heftier salaries, campus workers including janitorial staff, security guards, and graduate teaching assistants fail to earn livable wages. As the cost of living in the U.S. increases each year it’s important that workers earn enough money in order to support themselves and their families.
Fortunately, the past few years have seen tremendous improvements in working conditions on college campuses. At universities such as Harvard, Georgetown, Washington, and Virginia, students have united with workers, labor unions, Jobs with Justice Coalitions, and clergy to fight for livable wages and improved working conditions for campus workers- and they are winning!
