Full & Fair Employment
Our economy is set up to protect the wealthy and powerful, and it's harder than ever for working people to get ahead. Wall Street reaps record profits while our neighbors lose their jobs and homes.
At Jobs with Justice, we believe that work should be valued. Good jobs are the cornerstone of strong, healthy, happy communities.
For those who care about workers everywhere, we build local coalitions where we unite to take on struggles that none of us could win alone. The only way we can win is if we stand together.
We will not accept a "Jobless Recovery." We demand:
- Full and Fair Employment. Congress must recognize the jobs emergency.
Pass legislation like the Local Jobs for America Act, extend the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families emergency fund jobs subsidies program, extend unemployment insurance, heed President Obama's call to renew the countries' infrastructure and create a national infrastructure bank, and other bills that will create jobs, protect public services, and help get our economy going again. - Wall Street must pay their fair share for the crisis they created.
A tax on financial speculation could raise $200-$500 billion every year.

I'LL BE THERE TO DEMAND JOBS WITH JUSTICE
Jobs with Justice coalition members have been calling on Congress to enact a bold, broad jobs and recovery program, on a scale and scope to match the economic crisis faced by working people and their communities, including:
Jobs & the Unemployment Crisis:
- Stop layoffs and create millions of good jobs in our communities,
- Prevent the loss of state/local public services (schools, social services, transit, police and fire, libraries, etc.)
- Launch a new federal job creation program, putting millions of people to work
- Rebuild public and private infrastructure, retrofit factories, revitalize our cities and make our economy greener for the long haul
- Pass labor law reform and ensure worker dignity, and extend worker rights to all workers (e.g. domestic workers, farm workers, day laborers, etc.)
- Extend and expand jobless benefits, including access to health care for laid off workers
Homes:
- Keep people in their homes; stop the foreclosures & evictions
- Fund affordable housing and community reinvestment
Financial system that serves the economy -- not the other way around:
- WE WON! Re-regulate the big banks (We won, but there's still more work to do)
- WE WON! Establish a strong, independent Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
- WE WON! Ask Obama to appoint Elizabeth Warren to head the agency. (Warren has been appointed to help start the agency & serve as special assistant to the President)
- Create a non-profit, community investment bank, that provides capital to small businesses, cooperative ventures and the solidarity economy
- Support expansion of community development financial institutions
A New Economy that Works for Everyone:
- Protect retirement security and pensions
- Fix our broken trade and immigration laws
- Reform bankruptcy rules and corporate governance, putting people before profits and giving workers and communities a voice in their fates
- Make those that caused or benefitted form the crisis pay to restore jobs and the economy.
- Tax Wall Street speculators and excessive bonuses
- Tax accumulated wealth and inheritance
- End tax loopholes for investors and fund managers
Join our growing coalition of workers, students & youth, people of faith, and community members.
We need to join together and build power and momentum through bold action in order to transform our economy into something that works for all of us.
